Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Location: Vernon Hills, IL

Hire Type: Direct-hire, Onsite

Target Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000/year base

Job Summary:

The EHS Specialist will develop and maintain safety and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance in a manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include conducting audits, risk assessments, training, and incident investigations to promote a safe work environment. The role involves working with all departments to improve safety performance and foster a safety-first culture.

Job Duties:
  • Implement safety policies, conduct audits, lead incident investigations, ensure PPE compliance, and manage emergency preparedness plans.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, manage waste disposal, monitor environmental data, and lead sustainability efforts.
  • Deliver safety training, promote a safety culture, and support employee wellness programs.
  • Maintain EHS records, submit reports, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with teams on projects to enhance safety and reduce environmental impact.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant regulations.
  • CSP, CIH, or similar certification preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS software.
  • Ability to work onsite in Vernon Hills, IL (must be local to Chicago area).
