Title: Lab Technician
Location: Elizabeth, NJ
Hours: 1st shift 6 days a week (Must be flexible)
Type: Temp to Hire

Responsibilities:

Receive and prepare raw, in-process, and finished product samples for microbiological analysis.
Maintain accurate and legible documentation
Practice Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs)
Review all test results against established specifications and standards.
Perform product holds and release as applicable.
Perform laboratory analysis per MFI standardized test methods and lab requirements to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
Perform equipment check and safety monitoring as required
Assist in maintaining the lab's quality control system
Perform bacterial identifications and maintain lab database
Sterilize microbiological wastes and biohazards
Sample pickup (NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE)
Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Associate degree (AA) or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Will consider BS in Microbiology or Certifications
Microbiology experience from academic or lab setting
Knowledge of GMPs, GLPs and sanitation procedures a plus
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Drivers License required
