Eleven Recruiting is searching for a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join one of our largest aerospace clients sitting onsite in Simi Valley, CA. This role will play a key role in developing, implementing, and managing effective Safety, Health, and Environment programs/systems within the organization. This role involves analyzing hazardous situations, identifying preventive measures, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, document, improve, and audit site environmental, health, and safety (EHS) systems to ensure conformance and effectiveness.
  • Analyze plant safety, environmental, and health requirements to ensure compatibility with corporate practices.
  • Provide expertise in creating and maintaining health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Conduct audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes, and operations to maintain compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain all applicable registrations, permits, and licenses, ensuring they are current and valid.
  • Lead Kaizen activities, Safety Star Point Teams, Emergency Response Teams, and other safety-related project teams.
  • Assist in developing and implementing training programs to increase EHS awareness and compliance among employees.
  • Gather data to identify, reduce, or eliminate pollutants and hazards affecting the work environment and employee health.
  • Facilitate communication of best practices, incident reports, and near-miss events between facilities in line with established guidelines.
  • Assist in regulatory environmental reporting, including hazardous and residual waste, air emissions, and wastewater.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a related field.
  • 5+ years in health, safety, and environmental compliance, with a focus on safety regulatory standards.


Certifications:
  • ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM (preferred).
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management training as per 40 CFR 262.34.
  • DOT compliance training per 49 CFR 172.700-704.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training and annual 8-hour refresher per 29 CFR 1910.120.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 standards.


Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in EHS-related software such as SAP, Benchmark Gensuite, and HumanTech.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant federal and state EHS regulations.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to effectively interpret and present EHS concepts, plans, and technical data.
