This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service, Plains Area, Center for Grain and Animal Health Research, Hard Winter Wheat Genetics Research Unit in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will serve as a Research Leader and will be responsible for leading a research program related to the development of improved hard winter wheat germplasm and cultivars for the Central Plains in the USA.

- Plan and coordinate scientific research activities.
- Prepare the CRIS Project Plan, annual reports, and provide technical information and consultation pertaining to the project to internal and external contacts.
- Plan, conduct, and report on personal research on enhancing genetic resistance to wheat pathogens such as leaf rust, stripe rust, and stem rust, insect pests, or extreme environmental conditions.
- Enhance the creativity and productivity of the unit.
- Integrate and focus the efforts of a multidisciplinary team conducting fundamental and applied research.
- Communicate with cooperators and stakeholders.
- Ensure proper interpretation and reporting of scientific results.
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
