A leading Fortune 500 manufacturer is seeking a new Environmental Health and Safety Lead to joining their team at their state-of-the-art facility in the Binghampton, NY area.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Health and Safety Lead will include:

  • Environmental Permit Administration (including SPDES, Chemical Bulk Storage, and NYS Air Permits)
  • Conduct Inspections and manage written correspondence with regulatory agencies
  • Possess knowledge of Industrial Wastewater Treatment practices and RCRA Waste Management
  • Oversee Chemical Compliance
  • Facilitate projects driven by Compliance needs, including identification, evaluation, equipment selection, purchasing, installation, training, and new policy implementation
  • Revise Environmental Programs and Policies
  • Develop and deliver Environmental Training sessions
  • Prepare Annual Tier II and TRI Reports
  • Familiarity with regulations related to RCRA, SPDES, Bulk Chemical Storage, as well as air, water, waste, DOT, and other environmental requirements at the Federal, State, and Local levels.
The ideal Environmental Health and Safety Lead will have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent education/work experience
  • HAZWOPER 40 certification
  • Preferred: Method 9 Certification
  • Preferred: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designation
  • Familiarity with Electroplating (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance (manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Environmental Regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Ability to type, sit, and bend
  • Interaction with operations (walking, lifting, bending, climbing stairs)
  • Occasional travel
