Job Duties

In the role of the SHE Manager, you will report to the plant manager and be responsible for the retention and continuous improvements of quality standards, maintaining compliance with DOT regulations, reducing accident rates and improvement of accident prevention, improving safety culture, and maintaining compliance to local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Regarding the Regulatory Compliance affairs for BMC, you will be responsible for performing hazard evaluation and classification (SDS) for finished goods and incoming raw materials according to OSHA Hazard Communication guidelines.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EHS (~90%):

· Maintain and conducts employee health and safety training programs.

· Create and maintain Safety Data Sheets, review raw materials, chemical hazards review, classification, and labeling in accordance with OSHA Hazard Communication guidelines.

· Characterize wastes, arrange for disposal, and maintain traceable records. Lead waste minimization efforts. Ensure safe and appropriate storage of waste and other chemicals in compliance with standards.

· Gather data; perform calculations to determine reporting requirements and complete reports for local, state, and federal agencies.

· Ensure product labeling compliance with DOT Hazmat.

· Perform sampling and tests as needed to ensure compliance with permits, regulations, or law.

· Monitor safety action items and follow-through corrective action.

· Establish and maintain safety programs and industrial hygiene duties such as, but not limited to, OSHA chemical standards, hearing conservation, air sampling, asbestos management, personal protective equipment selection (PPE), and others as required by standards and regulations.

· Coordinate the investigation of all incidents, root cause analysis, action item development, and tracking for completion on a periodic basis.

· Manage the chemical inventory system and perform annual audit

· Conduct self-audits of the EHS program

· Oversee and coordinate with production waste water treatment system operation and compliance requirements

· Obtain K-Class Wastewater certification,

Regulatory Compliance for BMC (~10%):

· Prepare, submit and maintain chemical management regulatory filings (including renewals) to ensure compliance with relevant country regulations in North America.

· Provide internal and external customer support related to (FDA) registration activities for chemical trade.

· Evaluate and respond to incoming internal and external customer product compliance requests and perform regulatory compliance views of the company's product certification, FDA registration, and import and export chemical compliance.

· Perform internal audits at the company's warehouses (once/year)

· Implement Safety Data Sheet (SDS) verification system for all incoming and outgoing product (to customers)

CANDIDATE PROFILE

· Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field is required

· 5 years of experience in Environmental management, Product Safety or Compliance for a chemical manufacturing company

· Knowledge of domestic and international product regulations is desirable

· Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills are required

· Must be a team player with excellent written communication and collaboration skills.

· In depth understanding of the state and federal health & safety regulations

· Experience managing safety in a multi-state environment is desired.

· Knowledge of US EHS regulations, laboratory and hazardous waste regulations, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics

· Effective analytical problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills are required.

· Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office

· Ability to travel 10%, domestic only.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
