Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Environmental Scientist to support our environmental compliance activities at a Petroleum Marine Terminal. This role focuses on air, water, and waste reporting and requires expertise in environmental regulations, data management, and permitting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with state and federal regulations, including EPA standards, and will be adept at managing large datasets, performing inspections, and ensuring timely compliance with environmental permits.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Reporting & Compliance:
  • Support the facility's compliance with environmental regulations, including air, water, and waste reporting.
  • Collect and process environmental reports that support facility operating permits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, and Maintenance departments to gather necessary data for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Evaluate, review, and follow up on completed reports to ensure compliance deadlines are met.


Data Management & Analysis:
  • Manage large volumes of data, with a focus on emissions and environmental compliance records.
  • Use advanced Excel functions and Pi Process Book tools to analyze and manage environmental data.
  • Ensure all data is properly stored, organized, and easily accessible for reporting and audits.


Permit Management & Evaluation:
  • Review and understand environmental permit limits and guidelines, ensuring compliance with air, water, and waste regulations.
  • While direct experience in obtaining permits is not required, the ability to read, interpret, and understand permit limits is essential.


Site Inspections & Field Support:
  • Conduct occasional site inspections, adhering to strict safety protocols and wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, and safety boots.
  • Support onsite field environmental personnel with environmental oversight, ensuring that all activities are compliant with regulatory standards.


Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience in Environmental Compliance and Regulations, specifically with air, water, and waste (preferably with an emphasis on air).
  • Familiarity with State and Federal Regulations, particularly working with EPA standards and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong Data Management skills, with proficiency in handling large datasets and utilizing tools like Excel and Pi Process Book for emissions data.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Permitting; ability to read, interpret, and ensure compliance with permit limits.
  • Attention to Detail: Proven ability to manage and track multiple environmental reports, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Preferred:
  • TWIC Card: Preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with Petroleum Marine Terminal operations and environmental oversight.


Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Office, Outlook) and MS Web Applications.
  • Comfortable with file storage, scanning, and report management.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform occasional site inspections and work in outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, safety boots).
