A clinical diagnostic testing lab is growing their R&D team, and this Microbiologist will validate assays and conduct standard microbiology testing in support of R&D initiatives.
Work Schedule: Full time schedule includes Sat/Sun + 3 weekdays of your choice (i.e. Weds-Sunday workweek)
This role is Contract-to-Hire.
Responsibilities:
The R&D Microbiologist will conduct testing and validate microbiological assays according to GLP.
> AST (antibiotic susceptibility testing) including MIC, and Disk Diffusion / Kirby-Bauer
> Bacteria culture / fungal culture and organism growth
> Anaerobic growth
> Organism Identification

Responsibilities:
The R&D Microbiologist will conduct testing and validate microbiological assays according to GLP.
- Process clinical specimens (i.e. urine, blood), perform microbiological testing, and document results according to lab procedures and policies.
- Microbiology testing techniques include:
> AST (antibiotic susceptibility testing) including MIC, and Disk Diffusion / Kirby-Bauer
> Bacteria culture / fungal culture and organism growth
> Anaerobic growth
> Organism Identification
- Develop and maintain control organisms in Aseptic environment
- Identify issues adversely affecting test performance.
- Assist with quality improvement activities.
- Identify test system deviations.
- Write and edit SOPs.
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of hands-on microbiology testing experience in academic or industry lab
- Demonstrated microbiology skills including bacteria cell culture, Organism Identification, AST
- Experience conducting organism growth using anaerobic chamber.
- Bachelor of Science Degree or Masters Degree in Microbiology or similar field
- Experience conducting microbiology analysis of human samples (urine, blood) Preferred

- Position pays a 20% Pay Differential for weekend work (16 hrs/week)
