Insight Global is assisting an Atlanta-based Botanical Garden's Conservation division in seeking a Director of Conservation Research. This role is a hybrid opportunity, with 3 days a week on-site. This Director will lead the Southeastern Center for Conservation (SECC) Research team to advance plant conservation through world-class scientific research. This role will provide strategic leadership by developing and implementing research objectives, and fostering partnerships with external entities. This role will collaborate with the Vice President of Conservation & Research and the Director of Applied Conservation to set and achieve program goals. This role will secure funding, manage the research budget, and ensure project deliverables are met. This role will conduct and publish independent research and present findings at conferences and symposia.

Salary:
$110,000 to $120,000 annual salary
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Develop and implement research strategies, manage the research team, and ensure project deliverables.
- Funding: Secure funding through grants and private sources and manage the research budget.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise research staff.
- Outreach: Cultivate partnerships and promote collaboration with external entities.
- Research: Conduct and publish independent research.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biology, botany, horticulture, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record in securing funding through grant writing.
- Experience managing research projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
