Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Job Summary:

The Environmental Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, and ensure the operation is in full compliance with all environmental and safety statutes and regulations. This role helps establish, track and communicate key KPI's that drive environmental and safety performance. The EHS Manager also develops and delivers environmental and safety training to new hires and current employees.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Trains employees, coordinates and tracks facility inspections and develops, implements and tracks root cause corrective actions.
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the organization.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics during new employee orientation and for current employees.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Assists in developing key KPI's designed to reduce environmental and safety hazards, and tracks and reports results on a regular basis.
  • Ensures all required environmental and safety reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Leads the Safety Committee, runs the meetings and ensures the Committee is fully functional and effective.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and statutes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental and safety testing and measures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master's degree desirable.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
