Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Membership Retention and Engagement, the Manager of Retention Operations and Data will play a key role in enhancing member retention and engagement through data-driven insights into AIA membership trends and analysis. This individual will manage membership data reporting and utilize analytics to inform strategic decisions, focusing on solutions that facilitate member recruitment, retention, engagement, and research. The responsibilities also include overseeing the distribution of invoices and sales orders related to the Membership dues portfolio, ensuring accuracy, and supporting an annual revenue target of $57 million. The incumbent will collaborate with various teams to streamline processes, analyze membership trends, and develop engagement campaigns based on data insights. This role requires maintaining service delivery to AIA members and customers even during inclement weather or extraordinary circumstances through teleworking, if possible.

The Manager of Retention Operations and Data will support membership retention efforts, manage renewal messaging distribution, and assist with invoicing and sales order production. Additionally, they will produce and share routine and ad hoc reports, craft sophisticated membership acquisition and retention strategies, and collaborate with internal teams to optimize processes and analyze membership metrics.

The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Excel and Fonteva or Salesforce reporting. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in membership development and data analysis roles.
  • Intermediate or expert facility with Excel required.
  • Experience with Fonteva or Salesforce reporting required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail in working with databases, tables/figures, and data reports.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, solve problems, and carry out responsibilities independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and judgment calls to resolve membership and/or processing issues.
  • Some college preferred with minimum 5 years of experience in membership development and data analysis roles, ideally within an association or similar organization.

Work Location: 100% Remote/*Hybrid from the Washington DC metro area

* All AIA employees in the DC metro area are currently working remotely during our office renovation. Employees in the DC Metro area will return to a hybrid work environment in the newly renovated office at the completion of the renovation in Spring 2025.
