Position Overview
Position Summary:
Eastern New Mexico University's (ENMU) Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology. ENMU seeks candidates with expertise in Wildlife Biology or related fields. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to establish a research program that engages students in applied and/or basic research. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required.Position open until filled.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology, including but not limited to Wildlife and Fisheries, Introductory Biology, Ecology, and advanced courses in Vertebrate Zoology and Mammalogy, Ornithology or Ichthyology. Establish an active wildlife research program which provides training and applied and/or basic research experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. Seek and obtain extramural funding to support research efforts. Direct and mentor graduate students in theses and research projects. Maintain appropriate service to the department, college and university, including service on departmental, college and university committees, assisting with the departmental recruitment and retention efforts, and advising undergraduate students. Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Job Requirements:
Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field; ABD will be considered. Expertise in wildlife biology, conservation, terrestrial mammalogy, or fisheries science The ability to teach biology to students at all degree levels.Preferred Qualifications
University-level teaching experience Demonstrated experience with grant writing and funding. Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students research.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Commitment to excellence in teaching and willingness to teach using traditional, hybrid or online distance education technologies. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Clear plans for an active research program.
