Job Description

Environmental Engineer (Water Quality)

Cherokee Nation Management & Consulting is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer or Specialist to join our team supporting the AFIMSC Det 2 in planning, management, and execution of U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Space Force (USSF) environmental programs in the Pacific region. Candidate will work as an integral part of our team working with the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), installations, and communities to plan projects, ensure compliance, and provide technical support for high profile initiatives at installations and other locations throughout the Pacific.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Environmental Engineer: $100,000 to $130,000. Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Environmental Engineer Responsibilities Include:
  • Conducting comprehensive analysis of water samples to evaluate various parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and the presence of contaminants or pollutants.
  • Designing and implementing efficient and effective water treatment systems that remove impurities and ensure the provision of clean and safe water.
  • Developing strategies and implementing measures to prevent and control pollution in water bodies, including the identification and mitigation of pollution sources.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards related to water quality, including monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop water management plans that prioritize the conservation and sustainable use of water resources.
  • Conducting assessments to determine the potential environmental impacts of projects or activities related to water resources and providing recommendations for minimizing negative impacts.
  • Engaging in research to explore innovative technologies and methodologies for water quality improvement, pollution prevention, and sustainable water management.
  • Collaborating with scientists, engineers, policymakers, community groups, and other stakeholders to address water quality issues, educate the public, and promote awareness and understanding of water resource management.
  • Analyzing and interpreting data related to water quality, preparing reports, and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Implementing monitoring programs to assess long-term water quality trends, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions to enhance water quality management practices.
  • Ensure work products are scientifically valid/defensible and comply follow country-specific environmental regulations (including U.S.), Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD) standards, Final Governing Standards (FGS), other environmental law, and DoD and DAF policy. Reviews of externally produced documents/studies/tools shall include specific recommendations and changes to reach compliance with those applicable policy and regulations.
  • Work as part of a team. Support and assist colleagues and stakeholders as needed to accomplish deliverables and meet day-to-day assignments of the team.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Environmental Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Must be an environmental engineer, environmental scientist, or physical scientist
  • 3+ years of water quality experience
  • BA/BS (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or a closely related scientific field
  • Experience with federal projects and Pacific region preferred
  • Ability to organize and gather project data, conduct analysis, prepare reports, and provide recommendations without assistance
  • Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Current USA passport (or ability to obtain within five months)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD-issued CAC card (i.e., NACI/SF85)
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
