Fisheries Biologist II DFWRC Fisheries Program (DFWRC-Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation and Conservation) Natural Resources Department - Polson, MT
The Fisheries Biologist II is a technical and skilled professional position, responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out field and office work related to assessing the fisheries of the Flathead Reservation and identifying factors impacting those fisheries. The successful applicant must have a Master's of Science degree in Fisheries Biology or related field. Incumbent should have a Professional certification, or eligibility for certification, by the American Fisheries Society. Experience in program planning and management, along with ground and surface water modeling tools in relation to instream flow protection for fisheries is desired. Skill required in operation of electrofishing equipment and other standard fishery sampling and collection gear, in operation of boat motors, small gasoline engines and 4x4 vehicles. May require training and certification in the safe use of SCUBA diving equipment and techniques, electrofishing techniques, and the safe operation of a motor boat. Knowledge of ecological principles, basic statistics, population dynamics, related life sciences, chemistry and physics related to fisheries management, and the principles of fisheries biology. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with private landowners, the public and fellow workers through report writing and planning, public forums, and the news media. Possession of a valid driver's license is required. Failure to submit all of the above information will result in immediate disqualification during the screening process. All applicants are required to submit a Tribal Employment Application (Resumes may be submitted but may not replace or supplement the official Tribal Employment Application), copies of transcripts and/or certificates, copy of valid driver's license, proof of enrollment from a Federally recognized Tribe if other than CSKT, and if claiming veteran's preference, a copy of DD214 must be submitted. This position is not a (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The successful applicant, if not already employed by CSKT must pass pre-hire drug test and serve a mandatory six (6) month probationary period. Salary Range is Negotiable - DOE (Including Benefits: Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement, Long-term Disability, and PTO & Paid Holidays).
