Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
-Hands on experience within an animal hospital setting that required donning surgical scrubs, face covering and associated PPE to assist with surgery procedures within an operating room.
Position Summary
Act as a circulating Nurse to support the surgeons by positioning and aseptically prepping the patients, open sterilized equipment and instruments, operate specialized surgical equipment, properly clean and maintain the surgery suites before, during, and after procedures. Instruct the senior veterinary and technician students in gowning and gloving, proper hand scrubbing and basic Operating Room etiquette, as well as orienting them for emergency duty. Cleaning and Stocking duties.

Ability to properly handle and restrain various species of animals.
Effectively communicate.
Organized with ability to prioritize duties based on unit needs.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, deal with problems with concrete variables and draw appropriate/accurate conclusions.
Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
Wear all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
Work for long periods of time with arms extended.
