The successful candidate will engage in basic and translational research to better understand the metabolic dysfunction underlying Alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injury.
Job Duties:
- Plan, direct, and conduct research experiments to explore metabolic dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injury, aiming to uncover therapeutic targets.
- Evaluate and analyze complex data sets, utilizing advanced statistical and computational methods.
- Apply stable isotope tracing methods, immunohistochemistry, antibody-based analyses, confocal microscopy, and basic molecular biology studies to support specific neuroscience projects.
- Document experimental results and report findings to principal investigators.
- Summarize research outcomes and contribute to publishing results in high-impact research journals.
- Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow and resource management.
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the activities of trainees and less experienced research staff.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, contributing to the lab's research goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No prior experience required, though a strong interest in neuroscience research is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with rodent surgical techniques and in vivo physiology.
- Proficiency in programming and/or data science, with experience handling large data sets.
- Research experience and a publication record in neuroscience, demonstrating the ability to conduct and publish high-quality research.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively present research findings.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment.
