Company Overview:
Our operation is simple - we manufacture tires. But at Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Virginia (YTMV), we see it as moving the world. From the racetrack to Main Street, we put our customer's destination at the heart of our work, ensuring the millions of tires we produce annually exceed expectations in quality, safety, and environmental consciousness. Rooted in Salem since 1989, we have a history of excellence in both our products and our people.

Summary:
We're searching for a strategic leader whose top priority is fostering a safety-first culture and improving the overall health and safety of an organization. As the EHS Manager, you will spearhead Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, ultimately elevating these areas to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of our facility. Your ability to put knowledge of regulations, environmental management, and emergency response into practice will be what keeps our employees and customers safe - on and off the road.

Responsibilities:
As the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you are responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, safety, and security policies and procedures for the entire organization. Your goal is to constantly analyze the work environment and make recommendations that will keep our people, product, and environment safe and healthy. In doing so, you will be responsible for:

Ensuring the prioritization of EHS programs and procedures in all aspects of our facility

Following ISO 14001 guidance and using it as a roadmap for environmental compliance

Leading the Joint Safety Committee to facilitate collaboration between the Company and the Union on safety/health initiatives and concerns

Conducting safety inspections and walkthroughs of the facility, checking for hazards and non-compliance issues, plus ensuring safety protocols are being met at all times

Reviewing and updating all safety documentation including Safety Data Sheets, emergency response plans, and training documents

Developing and delivering training for employees that could include topics such as fire safety, first aid, and equipment use

Managing EHS team members through a leadership style that aligns with our core values

Interacting effectively with employees at all levels, as well as building solid relationships with outside regulatory agencies, consultants, and vendors

Analyzing large sets of EHS data and using those findings in decision-making that positively reflect in EHS KPIs

Oversee the plant security systems, which includes a large team of contractors, and make recommendations for continuous improvement

Assure compliance with all Corporate EHS processes and requirements

Knowledge and Skills:
Our ideal candidate would have the following experience and attributes. However, we believe in a culture that recognizes not everyone's path is the same. If you feel your knowledge and abilities will be successful in this role, we encourage you to apply.

Expertise in the EHS industry with a desire to be a resource to others in this area

Extensive experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management, demonstrating a clear progression in responsibilities and a proven ability to meet and exceed goals

A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or another related field

Experience as an Environmental Management Representative for on-site ISO 14001

The ability to lead a team and empower them to grow individually and as a group

A strong understanding of environmental impact assessments, waste management, and sustainability practices

Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, federal, state, and local EHS laws and regulations including OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, EPA, and DEQ

You will use your strong communication skills in many of your responsibilities from writing clear, concise reports to delivering employee training

It's a plus if you have experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment and/or with an employee Union
