Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. "Food Safety and Quality" are the responsibilities for all plant personnel.
The EHS Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Annual Emissions Questionnaires, Vessel Permits, Fire/sprinkler inspections, Unified Hazard Waste Program, CERS reporting, Backflow, Stormwater, wastewater.

No direct report, Directing the work of personnel hired to work on safety related programs and giving instruction and help needed for the employees to achieve their goals.
Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor of Science Degree, and four years of experience in a leadership role is desired. Absent the desired degree in Dairy or Food Science, additional dairy manufacturing experience, particularly in a leadership role involving safety and Cal-OSHA training may be considered.

Responsibilities
- Ensure yours, your team members', and all visitors' safety by actively supporting all safety programs as part of a "Zero Waste" commitment.
- Ensure full compliance to all regulatory, customer and plant quality requirements as part of a personal commitment to always ensure food safety and food quality.
- Constantly look for defects and opportunities for improvement throughout all parts of the plant operations and personally lead necessary efforts to "Make it Better".
- Bring value to the Team and strengthen the Team through your job performance, treatment of your team members and effective communication.
- Understand all performance criteria and operating results associated with your area of responsibility and constantly meet or exceed these requirements.
- Always have plan tour and audit ready.
- Actively contribute during Daily Shift/Direction Setting Meetings.
- Actively participating in RCA for any safety incidents, and revise protocol as needed.
- Develop protocol for any Plant visitors (Safety director, OSHA etc.).
- Understand sources of waste and actively strive for Zero Waste.
- Assist Plant Manager with chairing safety committee meetings, assignment and follow through of safety suggestions.
- Maintain records for the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
- Coordinate PSM related training.
- Assess the respiratory needs of the facility, coordinate all needed medical questionnaires, select respirators, responsible for Hearing conservations program and annual hearing testing.
- Assist with Accident Investigation, abatements, and safety retraining, recordkeeping within AIC.
- Maintain Risk Management Plan (RMP/Cal-ARP). Coordinate required training, annual inspection and the annual ammonia release reporting.
- Maintaining PSM web-based records.
- Perform forklift driver evaluations and license all operators.
- Conduct Cal-OSHA required training, including but not limited LOTO, confined space entry, IIPP, general safety, blood borne pathogens, chemical safety/SDS/Right to Know, general forklift, ammonia awareness, and heat exposure, Workplace Violence Prevention
- Complete PPE assessments for all functional areas, make pragmatic decisions regarding use of PPE.
- Work with the Regulatory Compliance Director to update training programs for O.S.H.A required safety courses.
- Follow-up and tracking to ensure hazard alerts are being completed by Plant Supervisors
- Create and maintain the Lockout/Tagout programs that are Cal-OSHA compliant, including writing procedures for new equipment and modifications. Ensure management and employee compliance.
- Perform quarterly safety audits. Write work orders for deficiencies noted, and follow-up with Plant Manager to ensure assignment and completion of audit issues noted.
- Manage Contractor Safety Program by assuring all contractors are properly trained and perform random inspections of their safety performance.
- Research O.S.H.A. and Cal-O.S.H.A. requirements to ensure the company is in compliance.
- Assist to review and update the Illness and Injury Prevention Program as necessary to ensure compliance with O.S.H.A. and Cal-O.S.H.A. standards.
- Annual update (or as key personnel change) of Emergency Evacuation Plan, coordinate Emergency Response training and conduct required Evacuation drills.
- Develop other training courses as requested by the DOHS.
- Utilize training matrix to maintain training records for employees at the locations of responsibility.
- Perform safety and environmental orientations for all new Research safety problems as requested by Plant Managers and DOHS.
- Follow up on inspection items and employee concerns to assure safety items are addressed and corrected.
- Follow all safety and working rules.
- Must have the ability to get along with co- workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
