Mirador is a next-generation precision medicine company focused on immunology and inflammation. The company's Mirador360 TM precision development engine leverages the latest advances in human genetics and cutting-edge data science to rapidly advance new precision medicines for patients living with chronic immune-mediated inflammatory and fibrotic diseases. Launched in 2024, Mirador has raised over $400 million from leading life sciences investors and is based in San Diego, CA.

Summary

We seek a talented computational scientist to combine multi-modal data (genetics, omics, imaging, EHR) to enable the development of new therapeutics. In this role, the successful candidate will design and apply computational methods to prioritize novel drug targets, enable patient enrichment strategies, and guide pre-clinical drug development decisions. A key focus of this role will be to design and execute integrative analyses that leverage cutting edge single cell-level assays including 10x, CyTOF, spatial-omics and CRISPR-seq screens to prioritize disease mechanisms, prioritize targets, and discriminate between disease subtypes.

This position is based in San Diego, CA, may consider candidates outside of the area.

Responsibilities
  • Design and perform analyses to infer causal mechanisms driving IBD and inflammatory mechanisms integrating data collected from pre-clinical models and human data sets
  • Partner with the immunology organization and wider R&D teams to provide data-driven input on experimental design for target validation efforts (e.g., relevant cell types, assay read-outs, and/or appropriate genetic perturbations)
  • Connect therapeutic hypotheses to specific patient populations through single cell or spatial omics profiling
  • Work with internal and external partners (in academia and industry) to collect functional data and develop integrative methods to empower future discovery efforts
  • Participate in and oversight of scientific report writing. Presentation of methods, results and conclusions to a publishable standard
  • Communicate findings in multiple settings (including 1:1, seminars, group and project meetings)

Education and Experience
  • PhD in Genomics, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
  • 2 or more years of relevant biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency with at least one high-level programming language (R, Python, C/C++) for complex data analysis and reproducible research practices
  • Expertise in analysis of high-dimensional molecular data, such as single cell, spatial omics, CyTOF, CRISPR-Seq data and their applications
  • Conceptual understanding of statistical genetics, GWAS/QTL integration, causal inference, polygenic risk scores, and/or clinical genomics is a plus
  • Background in inflammatory diseases (e.g., autoimmune diseases, IBD, and scleroderma) and/or experience working with biomarker and clinical trial data is a plus

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability of contributing to and helping advance multi-disciplinary team projects
  • Track record of excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to provide concise summaries of complex data to empower decision making
  • Strong work ethic and are proactive in providing solutions to foster scientific collaborations and drive projects forward
  • Ability to work in a highly interactive environment with a diverse team of colleagues

The expected base pay range for this position is $100,000 -$175,000 plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training. This range may be modified in the future.
