Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield. Specializing in carrot production, the company caters to both retail and food service operations and is renowned for its Bolthouse Farms brand, widely distributed in major retailers across the United States and Canada.
Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a subsidiary of Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a specialty in the food sector. Butterfly Equity's expertise spans the entire food value chain, from 'seed to fork,' with a focus on agriculture & aquaculture, food & beverage products, food distribution, and foodservice.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Environmental Compliance Manager oversees the development, administration, and oversight of the company's environmental and regulatory programs
JOB DUTIES:
- Ensure ownership and integration to drive sustainable environmental and regulatory management systems.
- Knowledge & experience to provide effective training on all appropriate related topics including creating presentation material for specific audiences and speaking in front of a group.
- Development & implementation of Environmental improvement initiatives along with the daily management of on-going environmental operations.
- Provide guidance to the leadership team regarding the environmental strategic objectives and regulatory compliance issues.
- Direct activities to conduct investigations, identify root cause and recommend corrective measures for all environmental non-compliance incidents.
- Represent the facility to external regulatory agencies.
- Direct activities to compile environmental and regulatory information and other data as required by zone, local, state, and federal agencies.
- Completes reports and inspections required by zone, local, state, and federal agencies.
- Conducts assessments of regulatory impacts and environmental risks posed by project and process changes.
- Contribute to the overall needs and objectives of the department and facilities.
- Team building - ability to involve employees and the leadership team in the process, and coach on environmental procedures.
- Ownership of all environmental permits
- Ability to identify underlying issues, link issues with regulatory requirements and recommend appropriate corrective actions to address emerging/challenging situations.
- Must be able to prepare applicable spreadsheets, track applicable data, prepare applicable documentation, tables and reports and use electronic data interfaces to submit information.
- Must be able to monitor and evaluate work quality and processes against policies, standards, and regulations.
- Must be knowledgeable in environmental regulation, legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines to assess and interpret intent and comply.
- Be knowledgeable of environmental sciences, technology and protection including but not limited: a) Pollution Sources and controls; Spill Contamination and impacts; Water Treatment Processes (drinking water and wastewater).
- Be knowledgeable of actions required to address adverse water quality
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required in Safety, Environmental or other related disciplines.
- 5-7 years of environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Position requires the ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Must have valid current State Driver's License
- Ability to collaboratively work with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work all shifts and provide 'on-call' coverage outside work hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership skills, a comfort level with change, and the ability to lead change.
- Working knowledge of government regulations (i.e., Air Quality, EPA, CUPA, DTSC, etc.).
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements (federal, state and provincial) and apply them to the workplace.
- Effective decision making and a willingness to use available resources to accomplish goals.
- Acts with integrity in all EHS matters to maintain EHS compliance and excellence.
- Ability to lead teams and facilitate effective meetings.
- Investigative, analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred
