We have an immediate opportunity for a Staff Botanist. This ideal candidate shall have excellent plant identification skills and previous field experience working in the Central Valley's vernal pool grassland community.

We have an immediate opportunity for a Staff Botanist. This ideal candidate shall have excellent plant identification skills and previous field experience working in the Central Valley's vernal pool grassland community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Experience leading field surveys for rate, threatened, and endangered plants
- Previous experience leading vegetation surveys, invasive plant surveys, and habitat assessments to include monitoring surveys for open space preserves and restoration areas
- Must be organized with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to prepare reports summarizing field survey results and prepare studies to support environmental permit applications and CEQA/NEPA biological sections
- Previous experience preparing cost estimates for plant survey work
- Mentor, support, and train junior staff
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in botany, ecology, or related field; Master's or PhD a plus
- Minimum of 3 plus years' experience supporting environmental team
- Expert ability identifying plants using taxonomic keys and other related tools
- Experience with Central Valley vernal pool plant species and ability to analyze floristic/vegetation data
- Excellent time management and technical writing skills
- Experience with CDFW survey protocols
- Experience with GPS units/ArcGIS Collector
- Travel long distance and overnight stay will be required
- Ability to conduct strenuous field work in inclement weather and steep terrain
