Job Description

Alabama State University, Cancer Biology Research and Training invites applications to fill the position of Research Scientist. The selected candidate will conduct research implementing mentoring interventions, manage the funded grant activities, write grants, help with completing the goals and objectivities of the program, correspond regularly with partner institutions, help with student recruitment, research mentoring and advisement, participate in meetings with the principal investigator and co-investigators, and assist in maintaining the updating dating grant activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform research on cancer and cancer related biological mechanisms
  • Help recruit students for the research projects
  • Communicate and plan meetings with students and mentors
  • Provide support to the PI, coordinate and design activities for students and collaborators
  • Provide research training to students
  • Collect data and analyze data for publication
  • Present data at national and international conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Life Sciences (Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Cancer Biology, Chemical Sciences) or related disciplines, 1-2- years of experience as research associate, or postdoctoral researcher, and evidence of quality research and mentorship of students in the biomedical field required.
