DEPARTMENT/TEAM DESCRIPTION- Crop Science Transformation Production Team - Involved in plant tissue culture and plant production delivery.
POSITION SUMMARY
The STL Transformation Production Team is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and energetic individual to participate in the critical work of supporting R&D pipeline by supplying transgenic crops for testing. The successful candidate will perform plant tissue culture tasks, including inoculation with bacteria, sterile tissue transfer, and transfer of plants to soil. Desire to work and take initiative within a team environment is essential.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plant Tissue Culture
a. This involves moving plant material from agar gel to agar gel
b. Sterile technique is crucial to this step
c. Moving plant material to soil
d. Taking samples of plant material for genetic analysis
2. Seed preparation and Inoculation
a. Inoculating prepared seed with gene of interest
b. Experimental clean up and set up
3. Experimental Monitoring
a. Reporting on performance of tissue culture experiments
b. Effective communications and recording of observations
4. Lab Maintenance and inventory
a. Preparing lab space for daily duties
b. Performing weekly lab/biotech cleaning tasks
5. Data Entry
a. Use of our in house data management system for entering experimental information
b. Use of our quality system to record observations
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education Requirement(s):
• Min and preferred: A Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, cellular biology, biotechnology or related field is required
Skill & Competency Requirements:
• Basic Sterile Technique etiquette
• Science background
• Experience in fast paced environment
• 40 hour work week, on site by 8am, 8 hours expected per day
• No remote work
Preferences:
• Research Background
• Tissue Culture Experience
• Knowledge of PPE and High Quality Standards
• Experience working with a large team.
• LIMS System Experience
• Excel proficiency
