What You'll Do:

As the Environmental Manager, you will manage, develop and maintain compliance standards in regards to all environmental compliance while streamlining waste flows to meet the needs of the company.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Owns and manages all IDEM and EPA programs to ensure environmental compliance is met.
  • Maintains compliance and manages Title V permitting to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Completes all storm water, waste water, and solids permitting and testing to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains positive relationships with all relevant agencies and stakeholders.
  • Manages and completes all reporting requirements ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Researches and stays up to date on all compliance changes to ensure maintained compliance and how they impact the company.
  • Develops and executes on environmental program to ensure continual improvement of regulatory compliance.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and puts together action plans to ensure timely implementation.
  • Maintains all logs and records, both electronically and on paper, to meet the needs of the company.
  • Assists and acts as backup to the Safety Manager to ensure safety goals are met.
  • Coaches, maintains and performs team member training related to environmental compliance to ensure overall team compliance.
  • Manages waste streams and develops projects to improve sustainability efforts
  • Collaborates with other departments and performs additional tasks as needed to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance is met.


Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field; or relevant experience in the field
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive environmental experience within foundry or heavy manufacturing industries; Knowledge of environmental (IDEM) regulations and requirements are needed.
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Functional Skills: High Compliance and Safety mindset, good at planning, organization, and driving goals, policies, and standards, forward-thinking, prioritization, and project management skills are also important. Foundational understanding of Quality Systems, Lean thinking, and 5S preferred. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and/or approaches is needed. Ability to gather data, formulate statistical analysis, and present recommendations is needed.
  • Technology Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Office 365) products.
  • Communication Skills: Solid written and verbal communication. Ability to present and train others.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Strong collaboration and influencing skills; solid ability to coach, and train others; team-oriented focus with a strong work ethic - leading by example; able to effectively problem-solve and make solid decisions; conceptual thinker who can continually make enhancements to overall operations.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: $85,000 to 95,000 per year based on experience.

Reports To: Executive VP

Core Hours: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Typical Work Week: Monday-Friday; 40-45 hours a week on average; a few days a year may require longer hours

Direct Reports: 0

Travel: Limited travel to conferences as needed.
