The Watershed Agricultural Council, a non-profit organization working to protect the NYC Watershed, while supporting farm and forest land uses, is seeking an Assistant Conservation Planner. The Assistant Conservation Planner is responsible for assisting and providing support to the WAP Whole Farm Planning, Nutrient Management, and Precision Feed Management Teams. This position reports to the Whole Farm Planning Coordinator.

Salary range: $45,000-$47,500.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Conservation Planner to support the development and implementation of conservation projects. The successful candidate will assist in conducting field assessments, collecting and analyzing environmental data, and preparing reports and maps. Key duties include coordinating with landowners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable land use and resource management practices. The Assistant Conservation Planner will also help in organizing community outreach and educational events, and in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in GIS, and a basic understanding of ecological principles and conservation strategies are essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A degree in environmental science, ecology, geography, or a related field is preferred, along with a passion for conservation and the environment.
