Our client is seeking a NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) Planner to join their growing Transportation Department.
Hiring a motivated individual who desires to step into a Leadership role to manage Planning projects. They are a well- established employee-owned engineering firm.
Work will consist of project development and the preparation of environmental documents for transportation projects
Must have the ability to manage and coordinate assignments with a multi- disciplinary team, and write SEPA/NEPA compliance documents including EA's, EIS's for complex transportation projects including port and coastal projects
Assist in the preparation of proposals and other Project Management tasks
Most of the projects are in the North Carolina area and experience with NCDOT and other regional agencies would be desirable
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience preparing feasibility studies for Federal and State DOT's
Required Skills & Required Experience:
BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Planning or Urban Planning
(10) ten + yrs of experience in NEPA/SEPA Planning
PE or AICP professional registration preferred
Experience in managing transportation planning studies
Effective time management skills
Knowledge of MicroStation/Open Roads software
Project management including coordination with clients and permitting agencies
Supervision Experience - position will be responsible for coordinating the work assignments of other professional staff within the firm by making and reviewing work assignments, establishing priorities, coordinating activities, and resolving related work problems
NEPA/SEPA document preparation experience
Knowledge of State DOT and Federal policies
Ability to prepare proposals and letters of interest
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
