Scismic is supporting the growth of a Cambridge, MA biotech startup that is pioneering mRNA-modulating therapies to cure a broad range of genetic diseases. Job Description We are seeking a computational biologist with an innovative mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team to solve problems in preclinical research and development. The position will entail collaborating with scientists to design experiments, develop tools, analyze large/complex datasets, and leverage our growing body of knowledge to advance the identification and optimization of therapeutic leads. Key Responsibilities Derive and interpret results from internally and externally sourced sequencing data. Design and synthesize diverse feature sets to model molecular properties in silico and accelerate identification of promising therapeutic candidates. Support data-driven decision-making and assist with the development of efficient analysis pipelines. Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of work and code. Foster growth of colleagues and the company by helping bridge the gap between computation and biology. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and methodologies in bioinformatics and computational biology. Communicate findings and results to a wide range of stakeholders in written and oral formats. Preferred Qualifications PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics or a related discipline. Experience analyzing and troubleshooting a variety of next-generation sequencing data. Experience implementing molecular dynamic simulations or other molecular modeling paradigms. Applied experience with machine learning or statistical modeling a plus. Fluency in Python, R, or both. Comfortable working in Linux and/or cloud-based computational environments. Open-minded, team-centric, collaborative approach to work and colleagues. Industry experience a plus but not required.
