Position: Research Associate, Platform Biology

Reporting To: Senior Scientist II


Position Objective
Nitto BioPharma, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing novel lipid nanoparticle delivery systems for oligonucleotide therapeutics. As part of a talented and multi-disciplinary team advancing an exciting and novel approach to drug delivery, we are currently seeking a passionate and driven research associate with a strong background in cell-based screening to join the team. By using a variety of in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo approaches you will help screen and characterize novel drug delivery systems and guide their progression into development for preclinical and clinical use.


Major Job Functions

• Perform cell culture and in vitro biological assays as part of an interdepartmental effort to screen and characterize drug delivery technologies.
• Perform or assist with ex vivo and in vivo testing of drug delivery technologies.
• Collect, analyze, document, and interpret data.
• Communicate results succinctly in department/project meetings.
• Efficiently manage and maintain laboratory reagents, inventory systems, technical equipment, and tools.
• Work closely with teams across multiple areas of expertise.
• Contribute to the development, execution, and technology transfer of assay development to other internal and external teammates.


Education, Licensure and/or Experience

• B.S. in Biology/Chemistry or related discipline with proficiency and hands-on experience in cell culture and sterile technique.
• Experience with plate-based assays using immortalized and primary cells.
• Experience working with DNA/RNA/oligos/siRNA, including extractions from cells and tissues, and various PCR methods (endpoint, qRT-PCR, ddPCR, etc.).
• Organized and disciplined record keeping.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
• Ability to maintain motivation, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines in a rapidly evolving project.


Physical Job Requirements:

Office/Lab environment. Lifting to 20 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
