Position Information
Classification Title Temporary Technical Paraprofessional FLSA Non-Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary
Positions will be located on various National Wildlife Refuges in the Southeast region. Potential Refuge locations may include (but not limited to): Carolina Sandhills NWR in McBee, SC; St. Marks NWR in St. Marks, FL; Okeefenokee NWR in Folkston, GA; Piedmont NWR in Round Oak, GA; Lower Suwanee NWR in Chiefland, FL; Noxubee NWR near Starkville, MS; and, Clarks River in Kentucky. Primary duties include collecting baseline forest habitat data, cruising & marking timber to enhance wildlife habitat, and assisting with timber sale administration. Other duties may involve invasive plant control and monitoring of wildlife and habitat responses to various forest management treatments. A wide variety of wildlife management activities may also be incorporated depending upon refuge needs and objectives.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Preferred applicants are forestry students enrolled in school (undergraduate, graduate program or recent graduates) or recent graduates.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Preference may be given to students having basic dendrology, forest mensuration and silvicultural knowledge or experience. Wildlife students with an interest and understanding of forest ecology and management are also encouraged to apply.

Work is outdoors and therefore conditions are subject to Weather, animals, and natural occurrences. Driving.
