Required Degree: Doctoral-level degree in public health or a related field before December 2024.
Experience:
* Demonstrate a capacity to develop and maintain a high-quality quantitative or qualitative independent research program for the next five years.
* Provide evidence that supports the ability to engage with entities and potential collaborators within the department, across the university, or outside the university through research, teaching, or citizenship activities.
* Communicate a strong commitment to (1) the aims and mission of BYU; (2) fostering a community of belonging; (3) teaching and continuous teaching improvement; and (4) a student-centered approach to research and other scholarly efforts.
Duties/Expectations: Teaching responsibilities include courses in the Bachelor of Science (BS) Public Health program and in the Master of Public Health (MPH) program. Additional responsibilities include conducting and publishing high quality research, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service to the profession, university, and community. We are seeking applicants who can meet the department's needs in the identified strategic areas and are prepared to contribute to the content areas described below.
Strategic Areas: Applicants must possess the skills, experience, or expertise necessary to teach and mentor students in at least one of the following strategic areas. Applicants should describe evidence of skills, experience, or expertise in more than one of these strategic areas if applicable:
* Health economics
* Health informatics/Digital health
* Health services research
* Health systems
* Healthcare administration
* Integration of public health and healthcare
* Policy
* Public health management
* Public health social marketing
Content Areas: Applicants must articulate how they will apply the above skills, experience, or expertise to strengthen the department's ability to address one or more of the following content areas:
* Poverty alleviation and health
* Climate change and health
* Environmental health with an emphasis on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)
* Healthcare
* Infectious disease and control
* Mental health and wellbeing
* Public health ethics and leadership
* Sexual/reproductive health
* Substance use or addictive behaviors
* Other content areas that represent critical or emerging public health challenges
