Job Summary

Role Summary

We are seeking bright, enthusiastic Research Scientist to join an Immunobiology team committed to helping to develop CAR-T-cell drug candidates for the treatment of a variety of cancers.

Key Responsibilities

* Generate background research and key data to support the initiation and progression of research projects
* Investigate and develop novel CAR architectures and new concepts in T-cell engineering
* Develop, optimise and carry out in vitro and in vivo functional immune-based assays to support CAR T-cell product candidate selection
* Devise and communicate project plans and timelines
* Critically analyse and present data and accurately document work undertaken in electronic lab notebook
* Author experiment write-ups and pre-clinical reports to support clinical trial applications
* Participate and contribute as a subject matter expert to cross-departmental project groups
* Assist in technology transfer of assays to the Clinical Assays and Process Development (Cell Manufacturing) groups
* Work with external service providers to assess and on-board new methodologies and technologies
* Liaise and communicate with the Intellectual Property (IP) team to file and protect novel IP
* Train, mentor and support junior staff
* Undertake other relevant duties as required following consultation with line manager according to company priorities

Demonstrated skills and competencies

E - Essential P - Preferred


* PhD in Biology/Immunology (or related discipline) or minimum of 2-year cell therapy experience in industry
* Experience of working in a busy laboratory environment is desirable, although full training will be given

Skills/Specialist knowledge

* A Good understanding of cell biology and immunology
* Familiarity with a range of immunological cell-based techniques
* Experience of mammalian cell culture is essential
* Experience of T cell engineering and retro/lentiviral transduction of mammalian cells is highly desirable
* Experience of performing in vivo models is desirable
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Flexible, motivated with a positive attitude to problem solving
* Critical thinking in data interpretation, flexibility in adjusting and altering projects, as well as troubleshooting capabilities
* Capable of working independently, as well as being a team player
* Able to prioritize tasks and ensure all assigned tasks are performed in a timely manner, accurately and efficiently
