THE JOB
As a Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety your roles and responsibilities will include:
Lead Comprehensive EHS Programs: Oversee all safety and environmental initiatives within the plant, aligning them with government regulations and company standards. Develop and implement strategies to enhance EHS performance.
Compliance Assurance: Ensure rigorous compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as corporate EHS practices. Act as a liaison between the plant and regulatory agencies to maintain a transparent and cooperative relationship.
Project Management: Identify, design, and execute EHS-related projects to address safety and environmental challenges. Take charge of corrective actions for any EHS concerns that arise.
Sustainability Initiatives: Spearhead efforts to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the plant's carbon footprint. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sustainable practices and innovations.
Training and Education: Conduct EHS training sessions to raise awareness among employees about safety protocols, environmental responsibilities, and regulatory compliance.
Emergency Preparedness: Lead the development and maintenance of the Emergency Preparedness Program, ensuring its effectiveness and alignment with industry best practices.
Inspections and Audits: Coordinate and lead both internal and external inspections and audits. Address findings promptly and develop strategies to continuously improve EHS performance.
Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams by leveraging your expertise gained from formal and informal training. Empower employees with EHS insights and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in EHS management, with a strong grasp of regulations and reporting obligations.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing setting.
Extensive understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a safety professional (e.g., CSP) or industrial hygiene professional (e.g., CIH).
Over 2 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry, demonstrating a deep understanding of its unique EHS challenges.
Experience managing process safety management (PSM) covered processes/programs, and implementing PSM requirements.
Experience leading root cause analysis investigations and ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are developed.
Key Competencies:
Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams and regulatory agencies.
Problem-solving prowess to identify EHS concerns, develop strategies, and drive continuous improvement.
Strategic thinking to align EHS initiatives with organizational goals and industry trends.
Collaborative mindset to foster a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and compliance.
Result-oriented approach to meet or exceed regulatory EHS standards while enhancing operational efficiency.
