We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior or Staff Botanist. This ideal candidate shall have excellent plant identification skills and previous field experience working in the Central Valley's vernal pool grassland community.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Experience leading field surveys for rate, threatened, and endangered plants
• Previous experience leading vegetation surveys, invasive plant surveys, and habitat assessments to include monitoring surveys for open space preserves and restoration areas
• Must be organized with the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to prepare reports summarizing field survey results and prepare studies to support environmental permit applications and CEQA/NEPA biological sections
• Previous experience preparing cost estimates for plant survey work
• Mentor, support, and train junior staff

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in botany, ecology, or related field; Master's or PhD a plus
• Minimum of 3 plus years' experience supporting environmental team
• Expert ability identifying plants using taxonomic keys and other related tools
• Experience with Central Valley vernal pool plant species and ability to analyze floristic/vegetation data
• Excellent time management and technical writing skills
• Experience with CDFW survey protocols
• Experience with GPS units/ArcGIS Collector
• Travel long distance and overnight stay will be required
• Ability to conduct strenuous field work in inclement weather and steep terrain
