What you get to do:
You will provide knowledgeable and skilled support for our year-round park operational needs as you assist the EHS Department with complying and enforcing company, local, state, and federal environmental compliance/ management standards to include overseeing Environmental Programs, General Liability duties, and Supervision of Environmental Personnel. Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Oversees management of environmental regulatory programs and company environmental programs. Maintains compliance as required by federal, state, and local laws to include but not limited to wastewater, pesticide use, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, air quality, energy conservation, spill response, underground tanks, solid waste, hazardous waste, and DOT experience.
- Participates with inspections, inventory, and collection of data concerning: Potable, Non-Potable Water, Storm, and Wastewater, Pesticide storage, handling, and use, Hazardous chemicals/ waste, Universal/ Medical waste, Air quality, Storage tanks, Solid waste and Recyclables, Spill Control, Fire Suppression Systems, and others as requested.
- Demonstrates the ability to meet strict permit deadlines; provides update on pending & completed milestones; and leads others in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ensures all environmental recordkeeping practices are adhered to in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations to include meeting ongoing deadlines throughout the calendar year.
- Builds strong working relationships with other departments while conducting regular inspections and guidance on process improvements that will ensure compliance with environmental and conservation efforts.
- Actively participates in the Park Duty Manager program. Ensures that the park operation is running safely and efficiently by coordinating the efforts of leadership around the park.
- Develops, oversees, and accurately forecasts operating labor and expense budgets. Working closely with Finance to all environmental costs are planned for.
- Oversees management of Environmental Department Personnel; trains and ensures Ambassadors follow all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines taking action to correct deficiencies and recognize performance promptly.
- Responsible for managing ambassador performance oversight of daily tasks, ensuring appropriate ambassador training, providing formal and informal feedback on performance, and making recommendations related to progressive discipline.
- Responsible for labor management, including but not limited to, establishing and maintaining line schedules, authorizing position requisitions, hiring, monitoring labor expenses in correlation to revenue, and ensuring accuracy of ambassadors' payroll records.
- Assists with scheduling and coordination of contractor and vendor services and inspections.
- Oversees waste management and recycling programs, including all labor and expenses related to those activities.
- Must be able to perform all job duties/ tasks of positions within scope of supervision and willing to perform tasks when business levels require.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree with an Environmental Science, Safety, or Occupational Safety Major preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have five (3) years of related experience and/or training in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety Fields or equivalent specialized training.
- Must have knowledge of environmental/safety laws and/or the ability to research new information and/or laws and demonstrated proficiency in technical and team leadership skills within current position.
- Ability to create tangible goals and execute activities to achieve those goals.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include opening and late evening hours, weekends, and holidays with limited travel required.
- Must be able to stand and walk frequently for extended periods of time; must be able to lift, push, carry and pull 50 pounds occasionally; ability to climb/ascend heights if needed; perform tasks that require frequent bending from waist to floor, kneeling, squatting, simple hand grasping work, overhead work & fine manipulation, and use of keyboard/writing.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Position will be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and cold/ heat temperature extremes.
- Must be able to adapt and be flexible in job scope changes based on business needs and career development opportunities.
- Must be willing to comply with and ensure ambassadors comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.
- Must be comfortable working on and around marine vessels. With the ability to be out on the water for extended periods of time during sampling events.
- Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to read, write and speak English.
