Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator needed for Manufacturing Facility in Northlake, Illinois

1st Shift

$80K - $90K, based on experience

Summary:

The EH&S Coordinator will champion plant-wide efforts to continuously improve environmental, health & safety performance at the facility to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS requirements. This role will report directly to the Plant Manager with Matrix reporting to the Sr. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Manager - N.A. The Plant Manager or Sr. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Manager - N.A. fulfills the personal safety duties of this role in case of a vacancy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Executes improvements to existing site safety and environmental programs under the direction of the regional Sr. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Manager - N.A.

• Oversees incident reporting database and ensure all incidents are thoroughly investigated, documented and corrective actions are managed to completion.

• Conducts and oversees site environmental (SWPPP, SPCC, Tier II, RCRA (Regulated Waste) inspections, testing, shipments, reporting and other requirements.

• Completes routine inspections, reports and training programs and maintain required records.

• Lead and train employees on risk assessment techniques (JSA, Ergonomic Assessments, New or Altered equipment evaluations).

• Develops localized procedures for site-specific safety requirements.

• Leads and coordinates 3rd Party and Internal Audits regarding EH&S.

• Drives activity(s) to support site's annual safety goals.

• Builds trust and rapport with site personnel and provide high level of service to stakeholders.

• Assembles and leads safety committee and/or safety planning committees.

• Be an advocate and contributor to a culture of safety.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Engineering.

Work Experience and/or Skills:

• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Presentation Skills to enable effective training and communication to all levels at site.

• Proven work experience leading teams to execute improvement projects.

• Problem solving and root cause analysis.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Proficient in navigating OSHA, EPA, and other key regulations.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

• Working knowledge of ISO45001 and OSHA VPP preferred.
