Job Description:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Head of Structural Biology. This role requires expertise in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) with a background in crystallography. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a balance of hands-on technical proficiency and managerial skills, capable of leading a team of 4 individuals comprising 2 PhDs and 2 MS graduates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight in cryo-EM techniques and methodologies.
  • Utilize crystallography expertise to support structure-based drug discovery efforts.
  • Lead the design, execution, and analysis of structural biology experiments.
  • Team Management:
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 4 structural biologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project timelines and goals are met.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Project Management:
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with research, discovery, and development teams to integrate structural biology insights into drug discovery programs.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of results.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of structural biology initiatives.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Foster collaborations with academic institutions and external research organizations to advance structural biology capabilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in structural biology.

  • Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related field.
    • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in structural biology, with a focus on cryo-EM and crystallography.
    • Proven track record of success in leading structural biology projects and managing scientific teams.
    • Strong publication record demonstrating expertise in structural biology methodologies and applications.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
    • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry preferred.
