Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Scientist II to join our Remediation team in Jacksonville, FL. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services to support the organization.

AECOM 's Remediation, Restoration and Redevelopment Practice delivers innovative and often complex solutions to meet our clients' objectives. Because we address many different impacted sites - from munitions to PFAS to algae blooms and beyond - every project in our global practice is different.

The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:
  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Works under general supervision.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • BA/BS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Driver's License and must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
  • Ability to travel up to 30 - 50% per business needs
  • Travel is required up to 75% for fieldwork.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a medical clearance screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting.
  • Technical skills including Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are preferred
  • OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training
  • Experience in the collection and evaluation of environmental data in field and office settings.

  • Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (FL locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $65,000 - 85,000 annual.
