ATCS is growing! We are looking or an Environmental Scientist to join our organization with a background in wetland and stream delineations, species coordination and surveys, mitigation, agency coordination and permitting. The role will consist of field work within the ATCS footprint, which can include VA, MD, NC, SC and PA. It is an excellent opportunity for environmental professionals who like diversified project types, possess a high level of self-motivation, are comfortable managing multiple tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct wetland assessments/delineations/functional assessments utilizing Army Corps of Engineers methodologies, stream assessments, and threatened and endangered species surveys
• Coordinate and fulfill permitting requirements for local, state, and federal agencies across the ATCS footprint.
• Independently prepare technical reports and permit documents, including but not limited to NEPA technical reports, Section 7 ESA compliance documentation, and Joint Permit Applications
• Read and interpret historical maps, GIS data, and aerial photographs
• Create and maintain effective client and regulatory agency relationships
• Assess regulatory environmental requirements throughout the ATCS footprint
• Support ecological design projects, mitigation, and restoration tasks
• Support proposal production, work plans, and technical reports
• Travel to project sites with occasional overnight stays

Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field
- 6+ years technical and field experience preferred in wetland delineation and other natural resource surveys, environmental data collection, compliance monitoring and environmental permitting
- USFWS approved surveyor for T&E species a plus
- Willingness and ability to work independently in the field, in all seasons, with occasional weekend work
- Ability to utilize GPS, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office for project data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Experience with technical report writing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
