The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California invites applicants for the position of Microbiology Director. The Department is responsible for doctoral-level clinical oversight of Microbiology Services in several hospitals including Keck and Norris Cancer Hospitals and Los Angeles General Medical Center.

The successful applicant should be either a fellowship-trained Pathologist (M.D. or D.O) or clinical microbiologist (Ph.D.). The successful applicant should be board-certified or board-eligible in Pathology and/or Medical Microbiology (i.e. ABMM, ABP, etc.). Applicants should have experience using molecular microbiology platforms and other culture-independent techniques, as well as culture-based diagnostic methods required for patient care in a tertiary/quaternary care health care system. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to provide medical direction of the laboratory, to implement new diagnostic tests, and to interact with clinicians in an academic medical center environment. M.D./D.O. candidates must hold or be eligible for a California Medical license. Ph.D. candidates must hold or be eligible for a California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist license.

The annual base salary range for this position is $180,000-$260,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

The appointment is open rank in the clinical professorial series. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications. USC values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in employment. Women and men, and members of all racial and ethnic groups are encouraged to apply. #J-18808-Ljbffr
