Advertised Job Summary:
The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina, Columbia (UofSC) invites applications for a 9-month, full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a research program in molecular and cellular neurobiology to begin on August 16, 2023 or January 1, 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, extramurally funded research program relevant to neural development and/or disease. We are especially interested in applicants with interests in axon biology/pathology or signaling to/from axons in nervous system development, disease, or response to injury. This position will join the SmartState Center for Childhood Neurotherapeutics , which is comprised of neurobiologists focusing on mechanisms underlying axon development and neural repair. UofSC has a highly interactive neuroscience research community that encourages and precipitates collaborations. The developmental neurobiology community is further strengthened by the interdisciplinary Carolina Autism and Neurodevelopment (CAN) Research Center .
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses relevant to his/her area of expertise, as well as mentoring research training for undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral fellows.

Required Education and Experience:
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in biology or related discipline or M.D. and at least three years of postdoctoral research experience in a relevant area of neuroscience or biomedical sciences by the start date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
