Training and Compliance Specialist
We are seeking a Training and Compliance Specialist who will assist Sr. Training and Compliance Manager in personnel training and quality assurance. They will help coordinate and execute training programs of instruction in animal care, cage wash operations, and basic experimental technique to RAR and research personnel. Assist with development and training for initial and regular competency assessment for all trainees.

We are seeking a Training and Compliance Specialist who will assist Sr. Training and Compliance Manager in personnel training and quality assurance. Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in developing and executing an integrated and progressive program of training and career development for animal care and cage wash personnel in early, mid, and late career paths.
- Produce and keep up to date orientation materials and check lists for onboarding of new laboratory animal care, cage wash, and research personnel.
- Coordinate the writing and frequent updating of SOPs for animal care, cage wash, and other operations.
- Develop and maintain assessment tools for verifying initial comprehension and long-term retention of training.
- Utilize a tracking system for mandatory and optional trainings and assessments for personnel, to include periodic retraining and assessment, and to integrate with ACUC records of training.
- Help evaluate and verify the effectiveness of training by assessments, quality control inspections, and other means.
- Maintain regulatory documents according to internal SOPs.
- Provides programmatic support as required.
- May assist with the management of lab inspections, follow-ups, and reports.
- Assist with keeping up to date on federal and state regulations and policies governing the use of animals in research.
- Provide hands on animal training to animal care and lab personnel.
- Prepare communication materials, postcards, handouts, and billboards.
- Fact-find and evaluate possible noncompliant animal related issues.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of diverse laboratory animal care topics.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and reliably with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Zoology, Animal Science, Psychology, Behavioral Biology or other related field.
- Some experience in laboratory animal research, laboratory animal care, or a training & compliance position.
- Additional experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four years related experience.
- ALAT or LAT certification or veterinary technician training.
