Post Doctoral Research Associate Position in Radiation and Climate
The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate in the general area of radiative processes and climate change, with a focus on improving our understanding of radiative feedbacks over a range of processes and time scales. Our research group typically uses satellite data sets and in situ observations along with regional to global scale modeling to diagnose and improve the representation of key radiative and hydrologic processes in models.
The successful candidate will conduct original research, write manuscripts for publication, participate in professional meetings, and collaborate with faculty and graduate students at the University of Miami and other institutions. The position will also encourage candidates to develop and pursue their own areas of research interest.
Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or a relevant field, a strong mathematics and physics background, excellent writing and speaking skills, and strong programming abilities. Experience analyzing large satellite data sets and/or model simulations is also desirable. The position can start immediately, though the starting date is negotiable based on mutual interest. The initial appointment will be for one year and renewable dependent on performance and availability of funding for two additional years.
To apply for the position, please submit a complete CV, a letter expressing research interests, and the names and contact information of 3 referees. For additional information contact Prof. Brian Soden (bsoden@miami.edu).
