Purpose of Position

In the Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist position one would be Leading, developing, conducting, training and improving aspects of the EHS system such that the proper plans and controls are in place to reduce / eliminate hazards, incidents and injuries. Additionally, this person would develop and implement improvement plans that will identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors that drive a reduction in plant TRIR, DART, LDR, Risk assessments, etc. This position is seeking experience not only from a Health & Safety standpoint but is also looking to include a heavy emphasis on Environmental.

In this position one would be the point-of-contact for interaction with regulatory / enforcement agencies and the corporate EHS function from the planning stages through the completion of all future actions as required and would be expected to Lead and support environmental initiatives and process to drive towards zero NOVs/ENCs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide EHS direction, assistance and support as required to meet company and corporate EHS goals.Audit / continually improve EHS program.
  • Ensures that the areas of responsibility are in compliance with Federal, State, Local and Corporate EHS requirements.
  • Lead communications with corporate and outside regulatory agencies regarding EHS topics.
  • Ensure necessary and required EHS training is complete and on time.
  • Facilitates Joint accident investigations, Root Cause / Corrective Actions, and follow-up activities for recordable incidents.
  • Provides Root Cause / Corrective Actions for misses on assigned metrics.
  • Maintain and update the process of data collection to determine emission factors and calculations
  • Prepare or coordinate the completion of environmental compliance reports and documents
  • Research and assess facility operations for regulatory applicability for Environmental Risks (Waste, Waster water, Storm water, Air, etc.)
  • Prepare and submit revisions, renewals and new permit applications for facility wide environmental permits. Prepare and submit reports and records as required (Tier II, SARA, 26 R, others).
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene / industrial occupational health and safety or related discipline and a minimum of 1 to 3 years of EHS specifically related experience or an Associate's Degree with minimum of 3 years of specifically related experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental regulations and policies.
  • Must be knowledgeable in conducting EHS training, Internal record keeping, government / compliance reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
