A national environmental and sustainability testing firm in Indianapolis has an immediate opening to join their team. This role will provide chemical and hazardous material management solutions for their clients all across the country. Our client is hiring for an immediate full-time field scientist I to support
DESCRIPTION:
The individual in this role will be traveling to and from client sites, conducting facility inspections, relationship building and educating clients, gathering material/non-volatile chemicals from various departments (universities, hospitals, labs, and various other industries), and preparing the materials to be transported/disposed of properly. They will collect and segregate chemicals and prepare to be shipped back to the plant. Individuals will also be responsible for Manifest Regulatory Documentation, EAP, Labeling, Preparing material for safe transport and removal of said material.
ESSENTIALS OF THE ROLE:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry, biochemistry, geology, biology, etc.) or Environmental Studies
Effective communication skills, as this is a client facing role
Desire to work in environmental and sustainability industry
Must be able to lift 25-50+ lbs
Open to recent grads OR 1-3 years of environmental, field, or chemical experience!
Nice to Have (client will pay and provide on-the-job training and certifications within 1-6 months):
40 Hour Hazwoper

ESSENTIALS OF THE ROLE:
- Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Actively in the field providing on-site support gathering material/non-volatile chemicals from clients - responsible for regulatory documentation, preparing materials, safety transportation, and removal to ensure materials meet safety regulations.
- Assist in the segregation, QA/QC, and categorization of chemicals by hazard class; packing compatible materials in appropriate containers and preparing for transportation; completing necessary paperwork per job.
- Determines and loads supplies needed for job completion and travels to various industry, laboratory, and school sites to perform lab pack services.
- Directs Field Technicians/Drivers assisting with material collection.
- Introductory knowledge of high hazard materials management /assessment and cylinder handling.
- Providing material management, quality inspections, emergency response, sustainability solutions, and testing
- Assist with the facility inspections, characterizing materials at client site, chemical collection, and a ssess any hazardous material or environmental issues
- Develop good client relations by effectively communicating with various departments/leaders
- Introductory knowledge of environmental, chemical, hazard materials management - assessment and cylinder handling
