This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Environmental Scientist for our Merrimack, NH office. This position provides an opportunity to join a fast-paced team that provides solutions on environmental remediation projects. The work entails a combination of field and office-related activities, with a need to carefully follow instructions, document activities, work as part of a team and requires problem solving and proactive communication.

Your Impact
  • Validate environmental analytical data in accordance with USEPA, regional, and state-specific data validation guidelines to ensure data quality objectives are met.
  • Prepare data validation narratives and data usability reports.
  • Coordinate environmental laboratory services and field sampling events.
  • Manage and report environmental analytical data and geo-environmental data through multiple software platforms.
  • Participate in range of field programs, including the collection, handling, and shipment of samples of various environmental media (e.g., groundwater, soil, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air) in compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Engage in a team environment, working closely with project managers and other co-workers to complete work programs.
  • Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur in all seasonal weather conditions, using equipment (with an ability to lift and move approximately 50 pounds without assistance) and operating vehicles on behalf of the company.
  • Local and national travel (up to 10% of the time) with possible short-term assignments at project sites.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related life sciences field.
  • 0 to 1 years of experience working as an environmental scientist and completing environmental surveys, fieldwork, habitat and impact assessments, and/or construction monitoring.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word), with advanced-level Excel.
  • Excellent verbal with strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills, a positive attitude, detail oriented, and ability to work both independently and within groups.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice.
  • Understanding of the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in WSP's associated programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of organic and inorganic chemical analyses, including USEPA analytical methods.
  • Experience with EQuIS™ Professional.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (as applicable) are required for site work, preferential consideration for candidates with this training
  • A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.
