Our Sarasota, FL office has an exciting opportunity for an environmental scientist to join our team!
Responsibilities
Interested candidates must have experience in conducting wetland delineations, stream assessments, ecological surveys and habitat evaluations, as well as experience preparing wetland permit applications. The selected candidate will support a variety of environmental, transportation, roadway design, and land development design projects. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of geological and biological sciences, water quality regulatory programs, wetlands identification including knowledge of local botany and soil science, and experience in chemistry, ecology, biology, geology, water resources, geographic information systems (GIS) and environmental sciences.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of geological and biological sciences, water quality regulatory programs, wetlands identification including knowledge of local botany and soil science, and experience in chemistry, ecology, biology, geology, water resources, geographic information systems (GIS) and environmental sciences.
Qualifications
- BS or MS - relevant college majors include Biology, Environmental Science, Botany, Ecology or related majors
- 4+ years of relevant experience, including state and federal wetland and listed species permitting requirements
- Ecological field work experience, including wetland delineation and protected species surveys
- Soils, Hydrology, and Vegetation Monitoring experience
- Possess strong technical writing skills and have experience writing detailed technical reports
- Working knowledge and strong interest in ArcGIS
- Desire to work in both an office environment and in the field
- Experience operating 4WD vehicles and other field equipment in rustic areas of Florida
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for projects as needed
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- The ability to manage and prioritize several assignments concurrently and meet deadlines
