Summary

Toeroek Associates is currently seeking a senior environmental scientist or engineer to provide technical and management support to challenging projects throughout the United States. Regulatory programs related to the project work include Superfund, Brownfields, RCRA, and state regulatory programs. This position is available for remote work and home office; however, preferred localities include Denver, Dallas, Kansas City, Chicago, San Francisco, or Atlanta. Duties include

  • Technical Reviews/Reporting
  • Conducting technical reviews and preparing technical reports and other documents on topics associated with site investigation, characterization, remedial selection, and remedy implementation
  • Performing internal peer review of technical documents and providing recommendations
  • Evaluating soil, groundwater, and soil gas contamination, fate and transport, work plans, remediation plans, monitoring and performance reports, ongoing remediation programs, and other technical issues
  • Performing contaminant data evaluation and remediation system performance and optimization evaluation
  • Preparing environmental work plans
  • Project Management
    • Project Manager acting as a client liaison on technical and project status issues
    • Presenting findings to the client, attending meetings with the client, facility representatives, and the public
    • Working within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments


Required Education/Experience

BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of practical experience related to evaluating contaminated site characterization and remediation at contaminated sites, including Superfund, Brownfields, and RCRA Corrective Action sites; strong knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations under federal, state, and other cleanup programs.

Skills
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Detailed, critical, and thoughtful writing and analysis skills
  • Knowledge of or experience in environmental information collection, analysis, interpretation, and report preparation
  • Ability to function as a member of a team and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and meet deadlines, and adapt quickly and smoothly to changing project requirements
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications
Preferred Experience/Location
  • Experience with emerging contaminants, in partifuclar, PFAS
  • Experience with site investigations and remediation; including groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil, and vapor intrusion investigations
  • Brownfields/Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) experience
  • Locality in the above-reference metro area in support of regional operations is preferred but not required. The position is available for remote work and home office.


This position's target salary hiring range is $70,000 - $100,000 annually, DOQ. This is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the base compensation at the time of posting.
