For more than 35 years, the MJW Companies (MJW Corporation, Inc. and MJW Technical Services, Inc.) have helped clients in the United States and internationally better understand and effectively remediate radiologically contaminated sites and comply with CERCLA, NRC, MARSSIM, and complex nuclear and radiological regulations. MJW professionals include Health Physicists, Radiological Engineers, and a broad range of environmental disciplines that measure, interpret, and control radiation and environmental hazardous materials and ensure the protection of workers, the public, and the environment.
Position: Environmental Scientist/Health Physicist (ES/HP)
Current positions are available in MJW's Amherst, NY office.

Candidates will support MJW project managers and clients in solving complex radiological site assessment and compliance projects that include an equal mix of field and office activities. The successful candidate is expected to take the initiative in learning unfamiliar subject matter and utilizing coworkers and managers as mentors to grow their expertise and knowledge of health physics, regulations, and related radiological or environmental sciences.
Reporting and data assessment skills using MS Office software tools will be emphasized and required. Mapping, statistical analysis, and graphics software will also be used.
Training will be provided, and promotional opportunities are available for candidates who demonstrate a willingness to grow, take advantage of the resources and opportunities available, and maintain MJW's reputation for excellence and professionalism.
The ES/HP will work under the mentorship of senior staff and participate in proposal preparation, project planning, field activities, and data assessment and reporting. Candidates will receive radiological safety and HP training, including the theory and use of radiological instrumentation, regulatory requirements and guidance, pathway analysis and data assessment, and statistical evaluation.
Work activities and duties can typically be completed during regular working hours. Still, they may require occasional overtime or off-normal hours to complete reports or respond to client needs. Work is generally located in the Western NY area but may occasionally involve some travel.
