Position Purpose

Manage waste & recycling services & compliance to environmental permits to reduce waste. Ensure environmental compliance.

Accountabilities
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Ensure compliance of waste, wastewater & storm water systems. Prepare & submit compliance reports
  • Collect, maintain & report environmental data
  • Execute the waste disposal & recycling program within compliance while implementing ideas for reducing volume & costs
  • Participate with the spill response & first aid teams; table top exercises
  • Obtain & maintain ISO Certification
  • Manage vendors & contracts for waste, recycling, security systems, fire systems, environmental laboratory services & emergency spill contractor
  • Other accountabilities as assigned


Required Qualifications
  • 2 years in managing hazardous waste
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance


Desired Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 3+ years in general environmental compliance
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Participation in emergency response teams
  • Pharmaceutical experience a plus
  • Good communication & writing skills
  • Working knowledge of fire detection/suppression/prevention systems
  • Knowledge of security badging systems
  • Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets


Physical & Other Requirements
  • Ability to work in & around an active construction site during project phase
  • Ability to work in areas with odors/hazardous materials, near operating equipment, in high places, confined spaces, & moderate to loud noise environments
  • Service attitude: Demonstrates a "How can I help you today!" attitude
  • Available to work hours necessary to support production & maintenance activities
