Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon's discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As a Scientist 1 in the Assay Biology Department, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals with outstanding expertise in the Company's core platform technologies and drug discovery processes. You'll play a key role in developing cell-based assays and profiling small molecule compounds to advance the research pipeline for multiple drug discovery programs. You'll work collaboratively with teams of biologists, chemists and engineering experts.

About you
You're a rigorous cell biologist who takes pride in your ability to execute at the bench. Someone who enjoys teaching and mentoring research associates and are interested in helping build the Assay Biology group at Eikon. Passionate about drug discovery and the goal of developing novel treatments for patients. You're conscientious, detail oriented, and organized. You're collaborative by nature and are happy to help and thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy pushing the edge of what is possible.

What you'll do
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell-based assays for compound profiling, target engagement and biomarker development.
  • QC and analyze screening dataset to derive quantitative measurements from cell-based assays. Work closely with biologists and chemists to drive hit finding and SAR activities for small molecule drug discovery programs.
  • Mentor research associates to develop novel cell-based assays, perform routine screening of compounds, and perform other laboratory experiments as needed.
  • Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results.
  • Interpret and present scientific findings at research team meetings. Provide scientific input and propose follow-up experiments.
  • Collaborate and communicate across a diverse research team to successfully progress scientific goals.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a life sciences subject with 2+ years of industry experience in cell-based assay development and small molecule compound screening.
  • Proficiency in cell biology techniques, e.g. mammalian cell culture, live- or fixed imaging, transient transfection, stable cell line generation, cell viability assay, luciferase reporter assays, etc.
  • Familiarity with a variety of cell-based assay readouts including MesoScale, immunofluorescence, ELISAs, CETSA.
  • Demonstrated experience with High throughput screening and microscopy
  • Experience using compound screening databases, preferably with CDD.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior scientists/research associates.
  • Experience with data visualization and analysis software programs like Spotfire, GraphPad Prism, Excel.
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using lab automation to run cell-based assays in 384-well plate format.
